mezzotint

mday133L.jpg

A show of works on paper highlights the mezzotint as an 18th- and 19th-century popular form, and various bits of wall text suggest analogies and connections with ways we keep up-to-date with pop culture today. As I sketchblog my way around the museums, I respond to images and re-create them in my own hand.

This particular image spoke to me today, and I wanted to focus on the lights and darks in the picture, the strength in this woman's hands and arms. Happy International Women's Day.
